Celebration Cakes

Anne Newiss©

Whatever the Occasion, I specialise in quality, custom-made cakes:

Wedding, Civil Partnership,  Anniversary,

Christening, Baby Naming, Birthday,

Corporate Event

and much more besides ……

I offer individually designed cakes, realistic prices, and attention to detail and specialise in handmade sugar flowers.

Lifelike sugar flowers are a speciality, and I use food grade posy picks inserted into the cake to hold them in place.

Character cake toppers, and hand-made cake decorations also available, including cake jewellery.

Nothing is ever too much trouble. Every cake is as individual as you. Whether you are looking for something contemporary, classic, elegant or just funky, your order is important and attention to detail for a Professional finish is paramount.

I work on a one to one basis and therefore a limited number of cake bookings are accepted each week.  This is to ensure attention to detail for every commissioned cake order.

Some things take longer to construct than others which require preparation, in particular sugar flowers and other modelling as time has to be allocated for drying time.

If you have a complex cake design in mind, please don’t call on a Wednesday and expect a cake by the weekend.

Fresh flowers are more trouble than they are worth!

Do we really want fresh flowers on cakes?

The answer is a firm NO as obviously you don’t want to poison your guests!

Hygiene and Food Safety Regulations stipulate that fresh flowers must never touch the cake.

Commercially these are sprayed with chemicals. Flowers grown commercially are habitually sprayed with nasty pesticides to rid them of things which might eat them or kill diseases. These chemicals may also be hazardous to people if in contact with icing.

You would think that roses were safer than other fresh flowers; lilac roses attract bugs like a magnet. To counteract this problem the growers spray the roses very liberally with insecticide.
